Kenya: Govt Explores New Funding Model for Affordable Housing Programme

The government has hinted at an alternative funding model for the Affordable Housing Programme amid a shortfall in the mandatory 1.5 per cent Housing levy to finance its target of constructing 200,000 units annually.

Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga on Friday, September 4, said the levy currently raises about Ksh6 billion every month, but added that the collections alone cannot sustain the programme.
