Dr Aaron Shamu, the president of the Zimbabwe Local Government Association, emphasized the crucial role that local authorities have in the country’s efforts to achieve its goal of becoming an upper-middle income society by 2030, as outlined in Vision 2030. He made these remarks during a workshop focused on the significance of establishing effective master plans for the development of local communities.
Dr Shamu stressed the importance of local authorities in driving the economic growth and sustainable development of their respective communities. He highlighted that, in order to achieve the ambitions set out in Vision 2030, it is essential for local governments to play a proactive role in planning and implementing development initiatives that are tailored to meet the specific needs of their communities.
