Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi, the Commander of the Zambia Army, emphasized the importance of maintaining high training standards for Officers and Soldiers during the official opening of the 2024 first quarter Command Council. He made it clear that the Zambia Army would not compromise on their training requirements to meet anyone’s imaginary standards. Lt Gen Alibuzwi highlighted the specific conditions that Cadets at the Zambia Military Academy (ZMA) and Recruits at the Recruit Training Centres (RTCs) must meet before they can be considered ready for commissioning and passing-out.

During his address at the Army headquarters in Lusaka, Lt Gen Alibuzwi stressed that training must always yield the desired results. He noted that rushing through training without ensuring that the necessary lessons have been learned is not acceptable. The Commander emphasized that the Zambia Army follows its own syllabus and is committed to adhering to it to ensure that all recruits are well-prepared before passing out.

Lt Gen Alibuzwi also issued a warning to those spreading false information about the pass-out of recruits and urged them to cease such activities immediately. He highlighted that the Zambia Army’s high training standards have attracted the attention of other defense forces in the region, including the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force.

During a recent visit to Zambia, the Commander of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force, Gen Moses Fakudze, expressed admiration for the high training standards set by the Zambia Army. Lt Gen Alibuzwi revealed that discussions are underway to have personnel from Eswatini trained under the Zambia Army Command. He also mentioned that a female Brigadier General in the Eswatini Defence Force was trained at the Zambia Military Academy, showcasing the positive impact of Zambia Army’s training standards.

In conclusion, the commitment of the Zambia Army to maintaining superior training standards was emphasized by Lt Gen Alibuzwi. The Commander’s stance on upholding rigorous training requirements and not compromising on quality training for Officers and Soldiers ensures that the Zambia Army continues to set a benchmark for excellence in the region. From collaborations with other defense forces to the recognition of trained personnel, the Zambia Army’s dedication to training excellence remains unwavering.
