Zambia Detects First MPOX Case, Variant Unknown

The first case of mpox was reported in Zambia on Thursday, although the specific variant that was reported was not disclosed by the ministry of health.
For the second time in two years, the World Health Organisation declared mpox a global public health emergency in August as a new strain of the virus spread from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighbouring African nations.
