As the long Easter holiday approaches, a clergyman in Zimba district of Southern Province is urging citizens to be responsible and avoid engaging in reckless behavior. Pilgrim Wesleyan Church Presiding Bishop Juden Siachitema emphasized the importance of staying away from alcohol abuse, violence, and immoral acts during this period. Instead, he encouraged people to lend a helping hand to those in need in society.
In an interview with ZANIS in Zimba district, Bishop Siachitema stressed the significance of living in harmony, love, peace, and unity during the Easter holiday, especially in the midst of a time of drought. He called on individuals from all walks of life to exercise restraint and focus on spreading positivity and compassion.
Zimba District Commissioner, Robson Mulamfu, echoed Bishop Siachitema’s sentiments and urged Zambians to use the Easter holiday as an opportunity to promote messages of peace. He cautioned against any behavior that could incite violence and encouraged motorists and road users to be vigilant on the roads. Mulamfu emphasized the importance of exercising caution to prevent accidents caused by reckless driving, particularly under the influence of alcohol.
To ensure the safety of all individuals during the Easter holiday, the DC directed the police and other law enforcement agencies to enforce traffic laws and maintain order on the roads. He called on motorists in Zimba district to adhere to traffic regulations and stay alert while celebrating the resurrection of Christ.
The Easter holiday, observed annually by Christians, will begin on Friday, March 29, 2024, and conclude on Monday, April 1st, 2024. It is a time for reflection, celebration, and acts of kindness towards others. As citizens prepare to commemorate this important religious festival, it is essential to prioritize safety, responsibility, and compassion towards one another.
In conclusion, Bishop Siachitema and DC Mulamfu’s messages serve as timely reminders for individuals to prioritize peace, unity, and goodwill during the Easter holiday. By avoiding irresponsible behavior and focusing on acts of kindness, Zambians can make the most of this festive season while ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of society. Let us come together in the spirit of Easter to spread love, harmony, and positivity in our communities.
