The community of Chitambo District is in mourning after the tragic loss of their District Commissioner, Evans Chola, in a devastating road accident. The incident occurred on the Great North Road near the Chilata area of Mkushi District as Mr. Chola was on his way to Kabwe for a Provincial Development Coordinating Committee Meeting. The news of his sudden demise has left the community in shock and sadness.

According to reports, Mr. Chola was traveling in his official vehicle when it overturned around 06:00 hours. The accident proved to be fatal for Mr. Chola as he was thrown from the vehicle, resulting in severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the Mkushi District Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver of the vehicle, Jones Malipilo, 31, and Peter Chilombo, 33, a head teacher at Chiotwe Primary School in Chitambo, also sustained injuries in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the details of the accident and mentioned that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic incident. The community is awaiting more information as the authorities work to piece together what happened on that fateful morning.

Central Province Minister Princess Kasune expressed her shock and sadness at the news of Mr. Chola’s passing. She extended her heartfelt condolences to his family and described his untimely death as a significant loss not only to his loved ones but also to Central Province and the UPND party. Mr. Chola was known for his dedication to service and his commitment to the development of the region, making his loss deeply felt by all who knew him.
