Teachers in Zimbabwe are demanding a minimum salary of $1,000 per month, effectively rejecting the new currency known as ZiG.

In a statement marking the occasion, the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) emphasized the need for fair and safe labor practices.

The union urged the government to provide “a fair wage that enables teachers to cater for basics and have savings.”
