President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s special ambassador Uebert Angel, originally Uebert Madzanire, has recently faced a setback as he has been banned from YouTube. This ban comes after he allegedly tried to take down Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia investigative documentary, which exposed him as a key player in alleged gold and money laundering activities in Zimbabwe.
The documentary also implicated Mnangagwa, suggesting that he had a close relationship with gold smugglers and money launderers who claimed they were making regular payments to the President in exchange for protection.
According to data analyst Team Pachedu, Angel attempted to remove the content multiple times before ultimately being banned from YouTube for violating the platform’s terms of service. Team Pachedu explained that when a complaint is made, YouTube notifies the other party involved in the content, and this is how they were able to confirm Angel’s involvement in the removal requests.
Furthermore, Team Pachedu revealed that Angel is now attempting to attract followers to a new channel on Facebook, called UebertAngelplus. They stated that over 100 videos have been uploaded to this new channel in the past three days, as Angel’s main account on YouTube has been banned.
In addition, Team Pachedu also published a letter from YouTube addressed to Angel, outlining the reasons why they refused to remove the content from the platform. The letter mentioned that Angel’s copyright notification may not be valid for some or all of the videos, and it highlighted the legal use of copyrighted works for news reporting, parody, commentary, or review purposes in many countries.
Despite efforts to obtain a comment from Angel, Newsday was unable to reach him for a response.
The ban on Uebert Angel from YouTube has caused a stir, particularly given his alleged involvement in the gold and money laundering activities revealed in the Gold Mafia documentary. It appears that Angel’s attempts to remove the content and the subsequent ban from YouTube have led him to seek an alternative platform to continue sharing content, as evidenced by his increased activity on Facebook.
While the exact implications of this ban and Angel’s alleged involvement in illegal activities remain to be seen, it is clear that the situation has garnered significant attention and speculation from the public and news outlets.
It will be interesting to see how Angel’s actions on social media and the repercussions of the YouTube ban unfold in the coming days and weeks. As the story continues to develop, it is likely that more details will emerge regarding the extent of Angel’s involvement in the activities outlined in the Gold Mafia documentary, as well as the potential impact on his standing as a special ambassador for President Mnangagwa.
