In an exciting and historic event, Minister of ICT, Postal, and Courier Services, Honorable Tatenda Mavetera, introduced the “Digitalize Zimbabwe” initiative in Domboshava, Goromonzi West. Accompanied by Dr. Chirume, the permanent secretary of ICT, Minister Mavetera passionately urged the residents of Domboshava to embrace the vision of Digitalize Zimbabwe for the year 2030.
The Minister expressed her dedication to providing the youth of Domboshava with unrestricted access to the internet and personal computers as part of a broader mission to digitize the area. She highlighted the transformative effects of nationwide digitalization, emphasizing the shift from traditional Post Office services to the convenience of online transactions conducted from home.
Minister Mavetera emphasized the educational benefits of digitalization, noting the increased access to online learning through computers. She pointed out the seamless transition to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and advocated for virtual healthcare consultations, promoting the convenience of receiving medical advice online.
Ensuring continuous network connectivity, the Minister mentioned collaborations with major service providers like Econet, NetOne, and Telecel to offer affordable devices and expand internet access for all. She also highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure, including the installation of a network booster in Domboshava and plans for online currency access to foster universal digital inclusion.
At the launch of the Digitalize Zimbabwe initiative, significant milestones were achieved with the unveiling of the Digitalize Zimbabwe Magazine and the Presidential Internet Scheme. These initiatives symbolize a new era of technological advancement in Zimbabwe, promising a digitally empowered landscape that benefits both citizens and institutions.
Throughout her address, Minister Mavetera stressed the importance of digital transformation in driving progress and economic development. She highlighted the role of technology in enhancing various aspects of life, from education to healthcare, and reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring digital inclusivity for all Zimbabweans.
As she concluded her speech, Minister Mavetera expressed gratitude for the President’s trust in her leadership role and reiterated her commitment to realizing the vision of a digitally advanced Zimbabwe.
