The victim, Isaac Kabarapate, reportedly sought help from the traditional healer, Macdonald Ndlovu, in a bid to address his sexual dysfunction. However, the herbs given to him by the healer had a devastating effect, leading to his untimely death. The healer has been arrested and will face charges of murder in connection with the incident.
The events leading to Kabarapate’s death unfolded on a fateful day when his wife, Chiedza Mdimuranwa, went to tend her garden by the Ume River, leaving her husband at home. Upon her return, she was informed by her daughter-in-law that Kabarapate was lying in the bush near their homestead, complaining of severe stomach pains. When Mdimuranwa went to check on her husband, he revealed that he had visited the traditional healer for assistance with his sexual issues and had consumed the herbal remedy provided.
As Kabarapate’s condition worsened, his wife and brother rushed him to Chireya Mission Hospital, but tragically, he passed away on the way. The matter was reported to the authorities, leading to the arrest of the traditional healer, Ndlovu, who is currently in custody as investigations into the incident continue. Kabarapate’s body was taken for a post-mortem examination at the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals to determine the exact cause of death.
