Former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa has emerged after a three-week absence from the political scene, following his resignation from the opposition party infiltrated by Zanu PF. Chamisa was spotted at the Namibian Embassy in Harare, where he paid his respects to the late President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, who passed away on February 4th of this year.

Addressing journalists after signing a condolence book at the embassy, Chamisa emphasized that he was representing the millions of Zimbabweans who support him. He highlighted the fact that over two million people voted for him in the August 23, 2023 elections and stated that he carries their voices without the need for a political party. Chamisa praised President Geingob for his commitment to democracy, justice, and freedom, noting that he did not resort to arresting or imprisoning his opponents.

Reflecting on his future plans after resigning from the CCC, which he founded in January 2022, Chamisa hinted at providing Zimbabweans with a clear direction once he is ready. His decision to leave the party was based on his belief that it had been compromised by Zanu PF’s influence through its proxies.

Chamisa’s tribute to President Geingob at the Namibian Embassy underscored his admiration for the late leader’s dedication to upholding democratic principles within the SADC region and beyond. He commended Geingob for his contributions to Namibia, Africa, and humanity as a whole, citing his fair conduct of elections and adherence to electoral guidelines set by SADC.

Looking ahead, Chamisa pledged to follow in the footsteps of President Geingob, acknowledging the path laid by the late leader as a guide for his own political journey. While he did not disclose specific details about his next move, Chamisa promised to provide Zimbabweans with a clear vision once he is prepared to do so.

The presence of Chamisa at the Namibian Embassy marked his reemergence onto the political stage, signaling his continued commitment to championing the interests of the Zimbabwean people. Despite his departure from the CCC, Chamisa remains a prominent figure in the country’s political landscape, drawing support from a significant portion of the population who seek an alternative to the current ruling party.

In paying tribute to President Geingob, Chamisa not only honored the legacy of a respected African leader but also reaffirmed his own dedication to upholding the values of democracy, justice, and freedom. His actions at the embassy served as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the Namibian people and a reaffirmation of his commitment to advancing the principles of good governance and respect for human rights.

As Chamisa looks towards the future and prepares to outline his next steps, his appearance at the Namibian Embassy serves as a reminder of his unwavering dedication to the cause of democracy and his determination to continue fighting for the rights and aspirations of the Zimbabwean people.
