Uebert Angel, a self-proclaimed “prophet,” made headlines when he announced that he would be charging USD1200 per person for lessons on performing miracles at Gwanzura Stadium. This controversial move raised eyebrows among many, especially considering the steep price tag attached to the seminar.

The announcement was accompanied by photos of shiny yellow earthmovers at the stadium, signaling Angel’s intention to rehabilitate the facility. This grand gesture was meant to show his commitment to transforming the stadium into a state-of-the-art venue that could host international matches sanctioned by CAF and FIFA.

In February 2022, Angel finally began renovating Gwanzura Stadium, with the promise of handing it over to the City Council once it met the necessary standards. He vowed to turn the stadium into a mini FNB Stadium, a renowned sports venue in South Africa, and even mentioned plans to work on the Machipisa Shopping Centre Footbridge.

The initial phase of the renovation focused on the playing surface, with plans to upgrade the stands and install bucket seats. Angel hinted at the possibility of demolishing the existing structure to create a more modern and functional space for sports events and other activities. As a show of goodwill, Angel also announced a donation of USD50,000 towards the project.

However, two years later, the progress at Gwanzura Stadium seems to have stalled. The only noticeable change appears to be the addition of two small toilets, leaving many to wonder what happened to Angel’s grand plans for the venue. Rizz Wafa and Brilliant Pongo are among those questioning the lack of substantial progress despite the hefty price tag attached to the seminar.

As observers and critics await updates on the stadium’s development, it remains unclear if Angel will fulfill his promises of transforming Gwanzura Stadium into a world-class sports facility. The lack of visible progress has cast doubts on the feasibility of Angel’s ambitious plans, leading to skepticism among those who were initially intrigued by his vision for the stadium’s future.

In the meantime, discussions surrounding the fate of Gwanzura Stadium continue to generate buzz and speculation within the community. It remains to be seen whether Angel will deliver on his promises and bring his grand vision for the stadium to fruition, or if the project will remain mired in uncertainty and skepticism. Only time will tell what the future holds for this ambitious undertaking and its controversial price tag.
