Wunmi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has spoken out to address the controversy surrounding the paternity of their son, Liam. In a series of Instagram posts, she clarified that her husband never questioned the paternity of their son while he was alive.
The issue of paternity arose after Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and some concerned individuals called for a DNA test to be conducted on Liam. Wunmi had previously expressed openness to the idea of a DNA test, insisting that it should be done both in Nigeria and abroad.
However, Wunmi emphasized in her posts that those pushing for a DNA test on Liam were unjustly labeling him as “illegitimate,” causing her emotional distress. She revealed that the public scrutiny and demands for a DNA test had brought tears to her eyes and pain to her heart.
She stated, “The DNA issue is one that has brought tears to my eyes and pain to my heart, and my legal team has advised me not to dignify anyone with a response. However, I feel compelled to address the misconceptions arising from my silence.”
Wunmi further clarified, “There has never been any doubt or discussion about Liam’s paternity until my husband’s passing. It is disheartening to hear false narratives circulating on social media. My husband never questioned our son’s paternity during his lifetime, nor did his father or family.”
She shared, “The first time I heard about any doubts regarding paternity was through social media. There was never a personal conversation with me regarding DNA testing. My father-in-law’s legal team did reach out to mine, and terms and conditions were provided for a potential DNA test.”
Wunmi urged the public to advocate for her father-in-law to obtain a court order to proceed with the DNA testing to put the matter to rest once and for all.
In conclusion, Wunmi’s heartfelt plea sheds light on the emotional toll that the controversy surrounding Liam’s paternity has taken on her. She emphasizes the importance of handling such delicate matters with sensitivity and respect, ensuring that the welfare of her son is protected above all else.
