The review of trade policy and practices is an important reference on the international stage, as it reflects Tunisia’s level of economic openness and contributes to building trust with trading partners and donors. The fourth review of Tunisia’s trade policy and practices by the World Trade Organization (WTO) is expected to be launched after a date is agreed upon with the government. These announcements were made on April 5 following the third meeting of the national commission responsible for relations with the WTO, according to a statement from the Ministry of Trade and Export Development.
This meeting discussed the main outcomes of the 13th Ministerial Conference held from February 26 to March 1 in the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of a Tunisian delegation. Tunisia’s trade policy and practices were reviewed by the WTO.
Indeed, the review of trade policy and practices is an important reference on the international stage, as it reflects Tunisia’s level of economic openness and contributes to building trust with trading partners and donors. The third review of Tunisia’s trade policy and practices took place on July 13 and 15, 2016, according to the WTO. It was based on a report from the WTO Secretariat and a report from the Tunisian government.
Tunisia considers the trade policy review mechanism an important tool of the WTO that promotes transparency, predictability, and efficiency in the multilateral trading system.
