Nigerian singer Simi Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, recently expressed her support for couples living together before marriage. In a conversation on the Tea With Tay podcast, Simi shared her belief that cohabiting can help couples to truly understand each other before making the decision to get married.

During the podcast, Simi disclosed that she and her husband, Adekunle Gold, lived together before tying the knot. She explained, “I used to go over to Adekunle Gold’s place for us to spend time together.” She went on to express her personal opinion that couples should consider living together before getting married, as it allows them to see each other’s true selves in various situations.

Simi elaborated, “I am of the opinion that people who want to get married should live together for a little bit before they do that. Because I don’t think you really know someone that you’re going to marry until you cohabit. The way someone is when they are outside in their best behavior is different from how they are when they are cranky and they haven’t eaten or when they wake up in the morning or when they are snoring.”

While acknowledging that many people have gotten married without living together, Simi emphasized the value of cohabiting before marriage as a way to gain a deeper understanding of one’s partner. She concluded by stating, “When you live with someone you know all the sides to them, that is when you really know if you can do forever with them. Millions of people have gotten married without living together. But I personally think it’s a good idea to cohabit before marriage. It doesn’t have to be for long.”

Simi’s perspective on couples living together before marriage provides an insight into the complexities of relationships and the importance of truly knowing a partner before making a lifelong commitment. Her own experience with cohabiting with her husband reflects her belief in the benefits of this practice.
