The new release, Tales of The Macallan Volume II, pays homage to the legacy of its founder, Alexander Reid, by celebrating his visionary spirit and commitment to excellence in whisky craftsmanship.
Tales of The Macallan Volume II is the second edition in a remarkable series that commemorates Alexander Reid’s journey as a teacher, farmer, and distiller, encapsulating his story and the enduring standards of excellence that have defined The Macallan for two centuries.

Alexander Reid established The Macallan Distillery on Easter Elchies Estate in Speyside, Scotland, in 1824 due to his fascination with distillation. This extraordinary expression from the exemplary 1949 vintage was crafted and bottled in 2022 at the pinnacle of its maturation by Euan Kennedy, The Macallan’s Lead Whisky Maker, embodying the legacy of Alexander Reid as The Macallan celebrates its bicentennial year. The exceptional single malt is encased in a bespoke handcrafted Lalique crystal decanter, concealed within an exceptional almanac, each chapter narrating the story of Alexander Reid and featuring exquisite illustrations by renowned British artist Andrew Davidson.
Tales of The Macallan Volume II is limited to just 344 decanters and is priced at GHS 1.4 million. It embodies The Macallan’s unwavering pursuit of excellence in whisky craftsmanship and storytelling and will be available at select outlets.
