Like many learners, I first encountered the name Omukama (king) Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV during Social Studies in primary school, learning about kingdoms in Uganda and about a boy king who was crowned at three years old. Being children ourselves and in a similar age bracket then, it sounded more theoretical than practical.
Years later, I met King Oyo in person in 2018, at a three-day Young Leaders Forum organised by the Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA), where he was patron of the forum.
