The Ikeja Golf Course is hosting the second Acutech Pro-Am Golf Championship, bringing together the best golfers from West Africa to compete for a prize of N15 million. The championship marks the beginning of Nigeria’s professional golf season for 2024. The field includes top professional golfers from Nigeria as well as their counterparts from other West African countries, such as the reigning champion, Emos Korblah from Ghana, along with Francis Epe, Oche Odoh, and Mike Ubi from Nigeria.

Korblah, who won the maiden edition of the championship, expressed his excitement at the prospect of defending his title at the Ikeja Golf Club. He praised the challenging nature of the golf course, emphasizing that it tests every aspect of a golfer’s skill. Meanwhile, Zed Jituboh, the chairman of Acutech Support Systems Limited, highlighted the company’s commitment to investing in the development of sports in its operating environment through events like the Acutech Pro-Am Golf Championship.

The event is part of Acutech’s initiative to support the development of professional golf, with the company partnering with the Professional Golfers’ Association to run the championship. The Operations Director of the Association, Uche Ezebuiro, noted that they are constantly working with corporate partners to enhance the professional golf experience and showcase Nigeria’s top golf talent.

Jituboh also mentioned that the Acutech Pro-Am Golf Championship is just one of the company’s ventures in the sport, as they are eager to expand their involvement in the future. This aligns with the Association’s goal of promoting and advancing the game of golf in Nigeria by working with companies like Acutech.

The championship is not only an opportunity for golfers to compete for a substantial prize but also a platform for the development of professional golf in Nigeria and the broader West African region. As the second edition of the Acutech Pro-Am Golf Championship unfolds, it represents a significant step forward in the growth of the sport in the region.
