UNESCO Director-General: Egyptian candidate Khaled EL-ENANY seeks Burkina’s support
(Ouagadougou, March 28, 2024). The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE received in audience Thursday afternoon, Khaled EL-ENANY, former Minister in charge of Tourism of the Arab Republic of Egypt and candidate for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The former Egyptian Minister indicated that he is currently on an African tour to meet with the authorities of different countries in order to exchange views with them on his electoral program.
“I have just arrived in Burkina and I had the honor of being received by His Excellency the President of the Transition. I presented my candidacy to him, shared with him the key points of my electoral vision, and asked His Excellency to support my candidacy as an African candidate,” Khaled EL-ENANY said after the audience.
According to him, he also discussed with the Head of State the aspirations, challenges, and expectations of Burkina Faso in terms of education, science, and culture in order to include them in his program.
During his stay in Burkina Faso, Khaled EL-ENANY will also meet with the State Minister, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad.
The election of the new Director-General of UNESCO will take place in 2025.
