Speaking at the Ministerial Dialogue of the Abu Dhabi Culture Summit, during a session on the theme “Culture as a Driver of Socio-Economic Development”, the minister emphasized the importance of culture as a vector of individual and social fulfillment, a source of employment, and a factor of social cohesion.

Mr. Bensaid, who participated in this meeting alongside his counterparts from several countries including Spain, Paraguay, Nigeria, and Mauritius, indicated that Morocco is committed to promoting a society of access to culture for all, by increasing cultural spaces and tools, reducing inequalities in access to culture, and developing training in cultural professions.

The minister, who led the Moroccan delegation to this Summit, which also included the Moroccan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ahmed Tazi, highlighted the importance of cultural and creative industries (CCI) for the global economy, calling them a promising horizon and a source of sustainable growth.

During this Ministerial Dialogue co-chaired by the President of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Khalifa al-Mubarak, and the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, Ernesto Ottone, Mr. Bensaid also called for the strengthening of alternative geopolitical instruments based on culture to counter the economic, cultural, and political fractures of the current world.

The Abu Dhabi Culture Summit includes, in addition to the Ministerial Dialogue, sessions on artificial intelligence and cinematic storytelling.

This Summit provides Culture Ministers with an opportunity to exchange ideas with sectors of global culture and creativity around the outcomes of the UNESCO Summit “World Cultures Summit”, held in 2022.

The Summit’s proceedings, which continue until March 5th, address several issues including “the role of culture in creating collective memories while considering alternatives to the LTC (Longitudinal Timecode) concept,” as well as the importance of time in artistic creation and the protection of creators.
