Police in Kabale are currently investigating the mysterious death of a Rwandan national who passed away while aboard a Kisoro-bound bus. The deceased, identified as James Tuyizere, aged 21, was found dead by fellow passengers on the Horizon Bus UAM 218H as they approached Kabale town at around 11 am. Tuyizere had embarked on the bus in Kampala but tragically did not make it to his final destination.

He was in possession of a Rwandan national identity card and his body has been taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination before it can be repatriated to his home country.

According to one of the passengers, Hamis Magomu, Tuyizere began vomiting as the bus approached Ntungamo town and subsequently lost consciousness. He was then moved from his original seat to the back of the bus. Mr. Magomu expressed regrets about the unfortunate incident, suggesting that prompt first aid from the bus staff may have made a difference in Tuyizere’s outcome.

The officer in charge of criminal investigations at Kabale police station, Mr. Hakim Mukama, confirmed that a case of sudden death has been recorded at Kabale Police Station under SD 16/29/01/2024. He advised waiting for further details from the regional police spokesman, as he is the authorized person to address the media. Meanwhile, the deceased’s body remains in the hospital morgue awaiting the postmortem procedure.

The circumstances surrounding Tuyizere’s untimely death are currently under scrutiny, and authorities are keen to unravel the events that led to this tragic incident. In the absence of definitive information, the investigation continues as the bus company and relevant authorities work to provide answers to Tuyizere’s family and the wider community affected by this unfortunate loss.
