President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has made significant changes to the commanders of the elite Special Forces Commands (SFC). The SFC is responsible for protecting the president, his family, key government installations, and other government officials.
In the reshuffle, Col Allan Matsiko, who previously served as the director of intelligence in SFC, has been appointed to oversee the 303 Brigade. Matsiko had been in charge of SFC intelligence for 16 months. Meanwhile, Colonel Asinguza Muserebende, who was the director of SFC’s training, has been promoted to commander of the Special Forces Group (1SFG) One. Additionally, Lt Col Bagonza has been promoted to a full colonel and appointed as the commander of Special Forces Group Two (2SFG). Col. Seruyange has also been appointed as the Director under Special Forces Command, taking over the role of SFC’s intelligence director from Col. Matsiko.
It is notable that Sseruyange previously served as a military attaché for Uganda to Saudi Arabia, replacing Maj. Gen Michael Ondoga. Lt. Col Kafeero has been retained as the deputy director of intelligence in SFC.
The changes were announced by Col Deo Akiiki, the deputy army spokesperson. The President’s appointments and promotions within the SFC are aimed at optimizing the unit’s command structure and ensuring the continued protection and security of the president, government officials, and key installations.
The reshuffle underscores the President’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership and management within the SFC, a crucial military unit tasked with the protection of high-profile government figures and critical national assets.
