The Mwanga II Magistrate’s court has extended the remand of five suspects in connection with the alleged murder of Daniel Bbosa, the head of the Ndiga clan. The suspects, including Noah Lujja, Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, Ezra Mayanja, and Milly Naluwenda, appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba to hear about the progress of the investigations. The prosecution alleges that the suspects, along with others still at large, caused Bbosa’s death on February 25, 2024, in Kikandwa Lungujja Rubaga Division in Kampala district.
State Attorney Caroline Mpumwire informed the court that the investigations were ongoing and requested an adjournment. Consequently, the suspects were remanded until May 30. Bbosa was shot, and residents pursued the assailants on a motorcycle, catching and killing one of them at the crime scene. Lujja sustained injuries and was rescued by the police, receiving treatment at Mulago hospital while awaiting formal charging.
The suspects were returned to prison as investigators intensified their search for the prime suspect, Tabula Lujja Bbosa, for whom a bounty of Shs 20 million has been offered. Prior to his death, a long-standing dispute within the kingdom had led the Buganda cultural court, known as Kkooti Ya kisekwa, to instruct Bbosa to step down from leadership due to lineage disagreements among the clan’s true descendants.
