An Indian national named Ganatra Kapil fell victim to a robbery in Kiryatete, Hoima city in western Uganda, losing a total of Shs 22.4 million in cash. The unfortunate incident took place on a Saturday evening around 7:30 pm, as Kapil had left his residence at 7 pm to grab dinner. Upon his return, he discovered that thieves had broken into his home and stolen the significant amount of cash along with two land titles and his passport. Fortunately, the stolen land titles and passport were later recovered abandoned in Sansiro, located just a few meters away from Kapil’s house.

Immediately after realizing the break-in, Kapil promptly reported the crime to the Hoima City Central police station. Julius Hakiza, the police spokesperson for the Albertine region, informed that the authorities, in collaboration with local officials, are actively pursuing the culprits. A team of detectives has been deployed on the ground to gather information and track down the thieves. Hakiza urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by providing any valuable details that could assist in apprehending the suspects.

In a related incident, the police in Kakumiro district are also on the lookout for unidentified assailants who targeted Kakindo town council and robbed a businesswoman named Jennifer Kahigwa of Shs 500,000 at gunpoint. The robbery occurred on a Monday night around 8 pm when three armed robbers ambushed Kahigwa as she was heading home from her shop. The assailants emerged from a nearby bush, threatened her with a gun, demanded her bag, and warned her of dire consequences if she made any noise. When Kahigwa resisted, one of the robbers struck her on the head with a blunt object, causing her to collapse. Subsequently, the thieves grabbed her bag containing the money before fleeing the scene.

The incidents in both Hoima city and Kakumiro district highlight the prevalent issue of crime and robbery in the region, prompting law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring the safety of residents. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with the authorities to combat crime effectively.

As investigations continue and efforts to apprehend the suspects progress, the victims, Kapil and Kahigwa, hope for justice to be served, and for these criminals to be held accountable for their actions. The community stands united in condemning such acts of violence and theft, advocating for a safer environment for all residents in the area.
