Kevin Claudia Kojoki, 14, recently completed her Primary Leaving Examinations at Adjumani Girls’ Primary School with the hope of pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor in the future.

However, Kojoki is concerned about the financial challenges her father, a cobbler in Adjumani Town, may face in paying her school fees for secondary and university if she excels in O-Level and A-Level.

Kojoki expressed gratitude that her father was able to pay her primary school fees and is delighted with her first-grade results. She performed exceptionally well in Mathematics and English, and achieved a credit in Social Studies and Science.

Despite her academic achievements, Kojoki struggled with Mathematics, but her father’s commitment to hiring a tutor for her on weekends greatly improved her performance. Kojoki also faced domestic responsibilities at home, which impacted her studies.

She aspires to join St Mary’s Assumpta Girls Secondary School in Adjumani to further her education and pursue her dreams. Her father, Mr. Richard Iranya, a person living with a disability, is determined to support her aspirations and is willing to work hard to do so.

Mr. Iranya, who repairs shoes for a living, understands the financial challenges they may face, but remains determined to support his daughter’s dreams. Despite his disability, he is committed to working hard to ensure his daughter’s future is bright.

The Deputy Headteacher of Adjumani Girls’ Primary School, Mr. Lawrence Olima, commended Kojoki for being a disciplined and determined student and for her proactive approach to learning.

In terms of the overall performance of Adjumani Girls Primary School, 66 candidates were presented last year, with four, including Kojoki, achieving first-grade results, 58 obtaining second-grade results, and three passing with third-grade results. In the wider context of Adjumani District, 5,510 candidates were presented, with varying levels of academic achievement.

The data from the district authorities revealed that 184 candidates achieved first-grade results, 1,448 achieved second-grade results, 1,620 achieved third-grade results, and 747 achieved fourth-grade results, while 861 either failed or did not sit for the final examinations. Of the candidates who achieved first-grade results, 65 were female.

Kojoki’s determination and perseverance, despite the challenges she has faced, are a testament to her character and commitment to achieving her dreams.
