The police spokesperson Fred Enanga has stated that the public has provided valuable leads in the investigation of the shooting deaths of pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s driver and bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza.

The incident occurred when Muhumuza and Bugingo were traveling in their vehicle, which was shot at over 13 times in Namungoona-Lubaga Division in Kampala city. Muhumuza sustained at least 8 bullet wounds as a result of the attack.

In response to the shooting, the police had announced a reward of Shs 20 million for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Enanga has revealed that the public’s input has provided the police with clues about the weapons used and potential suspects. However, he emphasized the need to verify the credibility of the information before proceeding with any arrests.

Enanga assured the public that the progress of the investigation will be communicated to them. He also mentioned that forensic experts had confirmed that the pistol used in Muhumuza’s shooting was the same firearm used in the killing of blogger Isma Olaxes in May of the previous year. Despite this connection, no suspects have been apprehended in either case.

The police are actively pursuing the leads provided by the public as they work towards making progress in the investigation. They are urging the public to continue providing any relevant information that could aid in resolving the case.

The shooting deaths of Bugingo’s driver and bodyguard have shaken the community, and the police are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. They are appealing to anyone with information to come forward and assist in resolving this tragic situation.
