UBOS seeks stronger kingdom data to improve future censuses

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has urged cultural institutions to strengthen the registration of births, deaths and migration to improve the country’s administrative data and support future population censuses.

UBOS Executive Director Dr Chris Mukiza said stronger data collection at the cultural institution and community levels would help address gaps identified in previous population counts and reduce the cost and logistical challenges of conducting the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC).
