President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed decided on Tuesday to terminate the functions of the Minister of Transport Rabi Majidi and Minister of Cultural Affairs Hayet Ketat Guermazi.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Tunis, the Presidency of the Republic indicated that the Head of State has appointed Minister of Equipment and Housing Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri to manage the transportation department on a temporary basis. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Moncef Boukthir has been appointed to manage, on a temporary basis, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
On January 24, 2024, the President of the Republic appointed the new Minister of Economy and Planning, Fériel Ouerghi Sebeï, and Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub. He also appointed:
– Lotfi Dhiab, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training
– Samir Abdelhafidh, Secretary of State for Economy and Planning in charge of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
– Wael Chouchane, Secretary of State for Industry, Mines, and Energy in charge of energy transition
– Riadh Choued, Secretary of State for Employment and Vocational Training in charge of citizen enterprises.
Saïed carried out a partial government reshuffle on January 30, 2023, by appointing Mohamed Ali Boughdiri as Minister of Education to succeed Fethi Slaouti, and Abdel-Monêm Belaâti as Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries to succeed Mahmoud Elyes Hamza, according to a brief statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
This ministerial reshuffle and the appointment of Boughdiri and Belâati is the second of its kind after the President terminated the functions of the former Minister of Commerce, Fadhila Rebhi, on January 7, 2023, the first government change since its composition was announced in October 2021.
