On Monday, at the Carthage Palace, the President of the Republic, Kais Saïed, received the Minister of Education, Saloua Abbassi, and discussed the preparations underway for the organization of national exams and competitions.

According to a statement from the presidency, Saied emphasized the need to take necessary measures to counter attempts of fraud, warning that there will be no more tolerance towards fraudsters or any other party using modern electronic means that invent new methods of cheating in exams every year.

The Head of State took the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to move forward with a comprehensive and systematic audit of scientific degrees, emphasizing that this operation carried out with several ministerial departments, public institutions, and companies has identified thousands of falsified degrees as well as illegal recruitments based on “fake degrees” in total violation of the principle of equality among candidates.

Furthermore, the Head of State invited the Minister of Education to quickly identify a definitive solution to the issue of substitute teachers and professors based on objective criteria in order to preserve the rights of both teachers and students.

President Saïed stressed the need to work together with the various parties involved to put an end to assaults or insults against teachers, reminding that this professional body carries a sacred mission and that the entire national community has a duty to protect it and give it the respect it deserves.
