The head of the government, Ahmed Hachani, chaired a ministerial meeting on Monday at the government palace in the Kasbah to discuss the project of the highway connecting Bousalem (Jendouba) to the Algerian border.

The Minister of Equipment and Housing, Sarra Zaâfrani Zenzri, presented an overview of a financial feasibility study of the highway and the possible assumptions to carry out this project.

During this session, the execution of the works through a public procurement contract was approved, with a contribution to financing from international financial institutions and the cancellation of the use of a public-private partnership (PPP), which was adopted during a ministerial working session held on March 4, 2022.

On this occasion, the head of government emphasized the strategic nature of this project as a section of the Maghreb-African highway and economic corridor.

This project is part of a comprehensive and innovative development vision that aims to create economic momentum in the governorate of Jendouba and the border regions, as well as to enhance commercial exchanges with Algeria.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of the Interior, Kamel Fki, Finance, Sihem Nemsia, Economy and Planning, Feriel Ouerghi, Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Abdelmonem Belati, Equipment and Housing, Sarra Zaafrani, State Property and Land Affairs, Mohamed Rekik, as well as the Governor of Jendouba, Samir Kouka.
