The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has intensified enforcement operations against street begging involving sick people and children, warning that the growing practice poses serious public health risks and undermines human dignity.
Speaking at the Uganda Media Centre on Wednesday, KCCA Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki said the authority was increasingly concerned about cases in which caregivers remove visibly ill patients from hospitals and place them on city streets to solicit money from the public.
