Local leaders and civil society groups are pushing for Tororo Railway Technical College to admit civilian students alongside military personnel.
The college, traditionally reserved for army personnel, offers specialised training in railway engineering and operations. Advocates say opening it to civilians would address skills gaps, boost employment and reduce reliance on foreign expertise.
The appeal was made Tuesday by Tororo District Speaker Eddy Obella before the Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure during its oversight visit.
