The Constitutional Court has made a radical decision by invalidating the electoral list of the New Togolese Engagement (NET) in the Bassar constituency. This action follows the request of Ms. Koumayi Bikonibiyaté, who withdrew her candidacy from this list and appealed to the Court to formalize this withdrawal. Ms. Koumayi, vice president of the NET, had resigned from her position after the vote of the constitutional amendment.
The Court ruled in favor of Ms. Koumayi by invalidating the entire list of the party in the constituency.
Article 1 of the decision acknowledges the withdrawal of the candidacy of Ms. Koumayi Bikonibiyaté on the NET list in the Bassar constituency. Article 2 specifies that the NET list in this constituency is invalidated and must be removed from the final list published by the Court, according to the decision dated April 4, 2024.
