On Saturday evening, the Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL) was engulfed in a violent fire. According to reports, it was a warehouse that caught fire.

Videos of the fire have been circulating online since last night. In these images, the intensity of the flames could easily be imagined. The entire perimeter of the port was covered in black smoke.

The warehouse in question belongs to the Togolese Revenue Office where customs seizures are stored.

Alerted, the firefighters dispatched to the scene of the fire did their best to control the fire.

For now, the cause of this fire remains unknown. Authorities have not yet commented on the matter and there is no information on the extent of the damage from this fire.
