Two opposition leaders, Fabre and Apevon, were briefly seen at the starting point of the march on the first day of the demonstration.

In a video posted on social media, the two leaders were approached by the gendarmerie commander, who informed them of the prohibition of the march.

Apevon reacted by stating that they had called on the population to demonstrate and had come to assess the situation. He expressed regret over the minister’s silence, noting that they had not received any response to their last letter addressed to him, despite a promise of a reply.

On his part, the president of the ANC emphasized the legal obligation of the minister to call them back to discuss the situation.

After a few minutes of discussion between the gendarmerie commander and the two leaders, they were forced to leave.

The march could not take place, at least for this first day.
