Through a press conference held on March 13, 2024, the president of the United Chad party, Mahamat Zène Chérif, denounces the deliberately orchestrated maneuvers by more than 220 political parties with the aim of damaging the reputation of the United Chad party and causing confusion among its supporters and the Chadian people as a whole. He has decided not to be a candidate in the upcoming presidential election on May 6.

In accordance with the law No. 032/Pr/2019 on the charter of political parties in the Republic of Chad, the United Chad party was surprised and devastated to learn of a malicious imposture carried out by more than 220 political parties. The name “United Chad” is the property of the party under the current laws in Chad, particularly in reference to article 15 of law 032 and article 139 of the electoral code, Mahamat Zène Chérif recalled.

Despite the deliberately orchestrated maneuvers aimed at damaging the reputation of the United Chad party and causing confusion among its supporters and the Chadian people as a whole, the United Chad party, a national political force with decentralized structures throughout the national territory, is actively prepared to not only participate but also win the presidential election on May 6. “In this regard, our party not only has the financial and material means necessary to campaign wherever Chadians are, but also has a legal opportunity to present a candidate from among its members for the presidency,” he explains.

In light of this situation, Mahamat Zène Chérif calls on members of the United Chad party to remain calm and to abstain from any acts of violence or actions contrary to republican values and principles, in respect of democracy and legality.
