In a press release published this Sunday, March 3, the United Chad Party expressed its dismay and consternation at the creation of a political coalition bearing the same name as the party.

The press release emphasized that the United Chad Party was created in October 2021 in accordance with Law No. 032/PR/2019 on the charter of political parties in the Republic of Chad. It has been authorized to operate under Folio No. 541 since April 2023. Therefore, the name “United Chad” is a property of the party in accordance with Chadian law and legislation.
The party firmly stated that it is neither a member of the coalition in question, nor does it support any candidacy outside of its own members.

The press release warns against any misuse of their name and declares that the United Chad Party will use all legal means to enforce its rights and protect its reputation. The party reaffirms its commitment to the rule of law and republican legality, and assures that it will continue to defend its rights for the exercise of democracy.

As a reminder, a coalition of 221 political parties called “For a United Chad” invested, on March 2, 2024, the transitional president Mahamat Idriss Deby as its candidate for the presidential election on May 6, 2024.
