The Senegalese community in Morocco voted overwhelmingly in favor of the elected president, Bassirou Diomane Faye, giving him a total of 3,848 votes according to the provisional results of the election.

The Senegalese diaspora in Morocco participated in the presidential elections. Senegalese citizens predominantly voted for the candidate of “rupture and change,” Bassirou Diomane Faye, who came out ahead in the election.

According to the vote count of voters in Morocco, the newly elected president of Senegal received 3,848 votes, compared to 445 for Amadou Ba, the candidate of the ruling party coalition Benno Bokko Yaakar, and 139 for Aliou Mamadou Dia of the Party of Unity and Gathering (PUR).

Furthermore, the final results of the first round of the presidential election will be announced no later than April 1, 2024, by the National Commission for the Counting of Votes, one day before the end of Macky Sall’s mandate.

At just 44 years old, the future president of Senegal emerged from prison only ten days before the election. As for Amadou Ba, the successor of outgoing President Macky Sall, he was rejected by the voters.
