Fuji musician Remi Aluko recently praised Wizkid for his impact on the Nigerian music industry, particularly in terms of the music economy and the way he has changed the replay value of songs. According to Aluko, Wizkid revolutionized the industry by introducing shorter songs, which ultimately led to an increase in replay value for listeners.

In a podcast interview with Echo Room, Aluko shared his thoughts on how Wizkid’s approach to songwriting and recording has influenced other artists in the industry. He explained that prior to Wizkid’s arrival on the scene, Nigerian songs tended to be lengthy, lasting around four to five minutes. However, Wizkid broke this norm by creating shorter songs that were more concise and to the point.

Aluko emphasized that Wizkid’s recording method focused on creating catchy choruses followed by shorter verses, making it easier for listeners to replay the song multiple times. He commended Wizkid for his innovative approach and noted that many artists have since followed suit in an effort to replicate his success.

“Wizkid did something in the Nigerian music industry. And I picked up from there. Back then, a song used to last for five or four minutes. But go and check now, Wizkid is the one that changed the method of music that you don’t need to waste music,” Aluko said during the interview.

“He changed the method of recording in Nigeria. He will bring chorus and after that he will just give you like 16 bars and after that he will go back to the chorus. If you love the music, you play it again,” he added.

Aluko’s comments shed light on the evolution of the Nigerian music scene and how artists like Wizkid have played a significant role in shaping its direction. By challenging the traditional norms of song structure and length, Wizkid has not only revolutionized the way music is created and consumed but has also paved the way for other artists to experiment and push boundaries in their own work.

Overall, Aluko’s insights serve as a reminder of the impact that innovative artists like Wizkid can have on an entire industry. As the Nigerian music scene continues to evolve, it is clear that Wizkid’s influence will be felt for years to come, with artists and listeners alike reaping the benefits of his groundbreaking approach to music-making.
