This project, with a budget of over 10 million euros, is the result of a strong partnership between Morocco, Germany, and the European Union, symbolizing a collective commitment to a socially just ecological transition.
Morocco, despite facing challenges related to its dependence on fossil fuels, has made ambitious commitments in the fight against climate change. With its goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the Paris Agreement guidelines, the Kingdom is firmly committed to a sustainable and environmentally friendly economy.
The “Just Transition” project aims, according to a statement received by L’Opinion, to support this transition by integrating measures that promote social equity in climate policies. It provides a conducive framework to guide government reforms and strategies towards an inclusive ecological transition.
The launch ceremony brought together high-level personalities, including representatives from Moroccan ministries, as well as German and European diplomats. These renowned speakers shared their visions and perspectives on the challenges and opportunities related to the ecological transition.
Two major themes emerged during this event. First, the importance of “Just Transition” as an essential foundation for combating climate change, highlighting the need for an inclusive transition to ensure social equity. Secondly, discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities of decarbonization in the current climate crisis context, emphasizing the need to adjust decarbonization strategies while identifying opportunities for an accelerated transition towards a more sustainable economy.
