Rapidly rising in popularity in recent years, podcasts are accumulating promising listening figures during Ramadan. These series of audio episodes available online are gradually making their mark in the landscape, as print media and radio-television are losing ground with the Moroccan public. In the span of a few years, more than twenty podcasts have emerged, covering a wide range of topics – from football to geopolitics, to personal development – and are available in Arabic, French, and English. As some advertisers begin to show interest in this type of media, Moroccan “podcasters” are now seeking to organize themselves. They aim to create their own ecosystem, in order to ensure better funding and wider recognition.
