The President of the Republic, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, activated this connection in Pointe-Noire on Wednesday, February 28.
The Republic of Congo is among the thirty-three countries connected to the 2Africa submarine cable. The head of state officially marked the connection of this fiber optic cable to all the cities in the country. He also inaugurated the TIER 3+ Data center, the largest in Central Africa and one of the largest and most robust in Africa, as confirmed by the technical specifications revealed by the Director General of ARPCE, Louis-Marc Sakala.
According to adiac-congo.com, connecting this data center to the two submarine cables, namely Wacs and 2Africa, supported by two backbones and two internet exchange points, as well as state-of-the-art energy management technologies, will make Congo an uncontested digital hub in the sub-region, thus consolidating its position as a transit country for all of Central Africa.
As for the Data center, it will be able to host all the data from the public administration, the private sector, as well as those of foreign companies that already wish to house their equipment and data there.
The construction of these infrastructures lasted more than two years and cost 8.2 billion CFA francs. It is a complex consisting of a two-story building housing the TIER3+ Data center, and another six-story building housing 80 offices, meeting rooms, and a conference room for 75 people.
