Until August, Mr John Meron Loibe has been turning up early to teach at PAG Destiny Kids’ Academy in Nakaperimoru, in Kotido.
The school is a local community-based educational and early childhood development initiative associated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Uganda in the Karamoja Sub-region.
For his efforts, he was paid in unique currency – maize and beans – the staple food in the area. He accepted this payment form as the harsh climate in Karamoja makes food a critical need in the area.
