Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), recently expressed her admiration for Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa, stating that he is a shining example of a Nigerian Diaspora and a great mentor for Nigerian youths. This commendation was delivered when Musa and his delegation visited Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja, as reported by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM.

Dabiri-Erewa praised the football player for embodying the qualities of a good ambassador by excelling in the sport of football while remembering his home country. She highlighted Musa’s philanthropic efforts and mentoring of the youth, which led to him earning NiDCOM’s maiden National Diaspora Merit Award in the sports category. Dabiri-Erewa commended Musa for his dedication to humanity and his achievements in establishing sports academies in Kano, Kaduna, Lagos, and Plateau states, stating that success is measured by the number of lives one positively impacts.

She extended her congratulations to the entire Super Eagles team for their second-place finish in the recent AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire. In response, Musa expressed his gratitude for the recognition and support from Dabiri-Erewa, particularly during the crisis in Sudan. He reflected on his humble beginnings and shared his desire to give back to the less privileged in society, aiming to inspire others with his journey, especially those who may have underestimated footballers in the past.

Musa revealed his plans to establish a school in his hometown of Kano and expand to other states in Nigeria in the future, in addition to the philanthropic projects he has already undertaken. Furthermore, Mrs. Sarah David Areo, the FCT State Diaspora Focal Point Officer, commended Musa for his achievements and pledged support for his future philanthropic endeavors, particularly in Abuja.

In summary, Dabiri-Erewa praised Ahmed Musa as an exemplary Nigerian Diaspora and mentor to the country’s youth for his commitment to philanthropy and mentoring. Musa, in turn, expressed appreciation for the support and recognition he has received, sharing his plans for future philanthropic projects and inspiring others with his journey. The visit was a moment of celebration and promise for the positive impacts that Musa and other Nigerian Diaspora members continue to make.
