At just 23 years old, Jacob Kiplimo has already established himself as a dominant force in cross-country racing. Since the age of 17, Kiplimo has been excelling on the road, and his recent performance at the World Athletics Cross-country Championships in Serbia further solidified his reputation as one of the best in the sport.

Competing in the senior men’s 10km race, Kiplimo successfully defended his title and secured Uganda’s best haul at a global championship with a gold medal. He became only the fourth man in history to achieve a back-to-back victory at the event, crossing the finish line in a time of 28 minutes and nine seconds.

Reflecting on his win, Kiplimo expressed his excitement at successfully defending his title, surpassing his previous accomplishments in the sport. His manager, Federico Rosa, praised Kiplimo’s race strategy and dominance over the competition, highlighting the tough field he had to face in Serbia.

Despite facing strong competition, Kiplimo showcased his endurance and control over the race, building a significant lead in the final kilometers. His preparation and experience paid off as he cruised to victory, even taking the time to acknowledge the crowd before embracing his coach at the finish line.

Kiplimo’s teammate, Joshua Cheptegei, also participated in the race, finishing sixth after a valiant effort. Cheptegei, a three-time world 10000m champion, put up a strong performance but fell short of a podium finish in the final stretch.

The Ugandan team, led by Kiplimo and Cheptegei, claimed a team silver medal, showcasing the depth and talent of the country’s cross-country runners. The team also secured bronze medals in the junior men’s and women’s categories, further highlighting Uganda’s strong presence in the sport.

Looking ahead, Kiplimo has shown great promise with his recent achievements and continues to set new personal bests in various distances. His management team at Rosa Associati has been instrumental in guiding his career and helping him navigate the competitive world of cross-country racing.

With a stellar track record at major championships, including gold medals at the World Cross-country Championships and the World Half-Marathon Championships, Kiplimo is poised for continued success in the sport. As he continues to fine-tune his skills and strategy, fans can expect more impressive performances from the young Ugandan athlete in the future.
