The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, under its directorate of admissions, has officially announced the opening of admissions for the year 2024 to both public and private universities. This announcement has sparked excitement among aspiring students looking to further their education.

One such student is Majur Malou, who expressed his desire to join the prestigious University of Juba. In an exclusive interview with Talk of Juba, he shared his admiration for the way the University of Juba delivers lectures to its students. He mentioned, “I am motivated by the fascinating lectures that UoJ does give to its students,” highlighting his eagerness to be a part of the academic environment at the university.

Majur also emphasized the significance of completing his South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education (SSCSE) as a milestone that has prepared him for success at the University of Juba. He stated, “Having completed SSCSE is an invincible milestone that has thoroughly prepared me to succeed at the University of Juba,” showcasing his readiness for higher education.

According to the ministry’s official announcement, students who hold a South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education are encouraged to apply to their university of choice between March 11, 2024, and March 25, 2024. As part of the application process, applicants are required to submit a birth certificate, nationality certificate, two passport size photos, and six thousand South Sudanese Pounds (SSP 6,000) for obtaining the admission form and guidebook.

The announcement detailed that admission forms and guidebooks can be obtained from various admission centers, including the University of Juba, Upper Nile University – Juba Campus, University of Bahr el Ghazal-Wau, University of Rumbek of Science & Technology-Rumbek, Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science & Technology – Bor, and Directorate of Admission – Ministries Complex.

Yier Christine shared her high school journey experience, highlighting the challenges and difficulties she faced alongside her colleagues. She mentioned, “It was indeed a journey with hardship and difficulties, just like the other journeys of life, but my colleagues and I made it to this level today,” showcasing resilience and determination in her academic pursuits.

Christine also mentioned her struggles with transportation, leading to her missing first lessons due to tardiness. She expressed, “One of my challenges was transport. It has actually made it so hard for me to get to class on time. I normally missed the first lessons, and that wasn’t a favourable situation at all,” shedding light on the obstacles students often face in accessing education.

Applicants are reminded to submit duly filled admission forms with copies of required documents and attached photos to the mentioned admission centers by March 25, 2024. This deadline ensures that the admission process progresses smoothly, allowing deserving students like Majur and Yier to embark on their academic journey at the university of their choice.
