Former president of the African National Congress (ANC), Jacob Zuma, has thrown his support behind the newly-formed MK party, which is aiming for a two-thirds majority in the upcoming general elections. Zuma made these remarks at an uMkhonto weSizwe rally in KwaXimba, Durban, where he received a warm welcome from supporters. KwaXimba is known as one of the strongholds of the ruling party, making it an important location for the MK party to gain traction and support.

During his speech, Zuma outlined the party’s main priorities, which include land reform and giving power back to traditional leaders. He emphasized the importance of returning land to its rightful owners and putting it to better use. Zuma lamented the shift in authority from traditional leaders to politicians, highlighting the changes in the role of Parliament and the diminishing influence of traditional leaders.

Addressing his recent imprisonment for charges of contempt of court, Zuma criticized the Constitutional Court for taking away his constitutional rights and accused the leaders of the country of influencing the court’s decisions. Despite facing negative comments and imprisonment, Zuma remains committed to supporting the MK party and its objectives.

The rally also saw the support of traditional and religious leaders, with some pledging to shut down the country if the party does not receive a two-thirds majority in the elections. These leaders urged the people of KwaZulu-Natal to rally behind the MK party and ensure that Zuma, affectionately known as “Nxamalala,” achieves a two-thirds majority.

As the MK party continues to gain momentum and mobilize support, it has urged its supporters to register to vote at the upcoming voter registration weekend. The party’s goal of achieving a two-thirds majority in the election aligns with its broader aim of gaining significant influence and impacting policy decisions in the political landscape.

Overall, Zuma’s endorsement of the MK party and his passionate address at the rally signal a significant development in the lead-up to the general elections, as the party seeks to establish itself as a viable and influential political force in South Africa.
