The Somaliland Electoral Commission has stated that in two weeks time, if God willing, they will release a list of eligible voters and the scheduled dates for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections that are scheduled to be held on November 13, 2024.
Members of the Commission have explained this matter during a meeting held yesterday with national political parties and a delegation from the Swedish government.
As stated in a statement posted on the National Electoral Commission’s Facebook page, it reads:
“The Somaliland National Electoral Commission met yesterday with a delegation led by the Swedish Ambassador, Mr. Joachim Waern, accompanied by Mr. Johan Svensson.
The National Electoral Commission provided the Ambassador with information on the progress of election preparations and informed him that they will release the list of eligible voters and the schedule for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
The National Electoral Commission requested the support of the Swedish government in particular in the financial aspects of the election.
Furthermore, we also met with the leaders of the three National political parties, UCID, WADDANI, and KULMIYE, where we discussed election matters and the release of the schedule for the two upcoming elections, the presidential election and the parliamentary election, and we have agreed that the elections will be conducted peacefully and transparently in the country.”
