The peacekeeping forces of Somaliland issued a strong warning against the reckless firing of guns from a civilian vehicle, stating that anyone caught firing from their vehicle will face a two million fine and the vehicle will be confiscated.
Similarly, the peacekeeping forces warned against the reckless firing of guns from vehicles in residential areas, emphasizing that such actions can result in significant loss of life and injury.
The peacekeeping forces in Somaliland also reported on the economic losses caused by the reckless firing of guns from vehicles.
As reported by the media, a spokesperson for the peacekeeping forces stated, “The reckless firing of guns from vehicles poses various dangers, with the vehicle itself at risk of being seized, and the individuals inside facing severe consequences.
In the past two weeks alone, incidents of reckless firing from vehicles have resulted in two deaths and considerable damage. The recent surge in reckless firing from vehicles will be met with swift action, with most incidents occurring between four in the afternoon and midnight, disrupting people’s lives, disrupting businesses, and causing chaos. It is imperative that the perpetrators of such reckless actions face consequences.”
The spokesperson for the urban peacekeeping unit also commented, “We urge those responsible for reckless firing to cease their actions, as the consequences will be severe. Under Article 75 of the Urban Peacekeeping Law, penalties can include up to three months in prison and a two million fine for those caught engaged in reckless firing. The vehicle used in the reckless act will also be confiscated. The 82 individuals caught firing will face legal consequences, and we will not tolerate any excuses. Those caught firing from their vehicles will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
