Leaders in Kayunga and neighbouring Mukono districts have welcomed progress on the construction of a new bridge over River Ssezibwa, saying its opening will ease years of difficulties faced by motorists using the crossing.
The Shs54 billion arch bridge, being built by local contractor Dynaco Ltd, is replacing a 70-year-old structure that has deteriorated and outlived its lifespan.
The project, known as the Emergency Reconstruction of Ssezibwa Bridge, covers a 1.6-kilometre stretch and includes surveys, investigations, detailed engineering designs and construction works.
